Job Description
The Opportunity
We’re partnering with one of Australia’s largest enterprises on a genuinely defining digital transformation. The mission? Replace aging internal systems with one cohesive platform - reimagining how core services are delivered by frontline teams.
You won’t be crafting consumer-facing UIs here. This is deep systems design: complex workflows, internal-facing tools, process redesign - the kind of work that sits at the heart of enterprise change.
What You’ll Be Doing
-
Designing smarter internal tools: think onboarding, workflow optimisation, and operational platforms
-
Collaborating with researchers, engineers, product, and design system teams
-
Bringing real-world user insights to the table - including in-branch observation and usability testing
-
Contributing to a mature GEL-based design system (tier 2 component work and extensions)
-
Simplifying journeys that once spanned multiple clunky legacy systems
-
Operating in agile squads (with a bit of waterfall sprinkled in)
What We’re Looking For
-
Proven UX, product, or service design experience in complex, systems-heavy environments (enterprise, utilities, gov, fintech, etc.)
-
Strong component thinking - you know how to design for scale and reusability
-
Confidence navigating ambiguity and shaping structure where there is none
-
Stakeholder maturity - you'll be working closely with tech, ops, and transformation leads
-
Comfort working within and contributing to a well-established design system
Initial contract: 6 months (extensions likely)
📍 Sydney-based role, 3 days onsite
Why It’s Worth Your Time
This is one of the few enterprise projects where design is leading, not following. It’s strategic, well-funded, and backed by strong leadership. You’ll be designing things that truly change how frontline teams work - improving turnaround times, reducing friction, and modernising platforms that haven't been touched in decades.
