Job Description

This is more than just a job - it’s a chance to be part of a fast-moving, innovative scale up in the insurance tech space. This business is committed to helping their employees grow, both personally and professionally.

As a Software Implementation Consultant, you’ll play a key role in bridging the gap between the platform and customer needs.

We’re looking for someone who brings a strong software engineering background and has since moved into a more customer-facing or implementation-focused role. You’re equally confident writing code as you are running workshops, gathering requirements, and working closely with stakeholders to deliver solutions that stick.

This could suit a former engineer who’s transitioned into a hands-on implementation or Technical BA role, and enjoys being the translator between business/customer needs and technical execution — without stepping away from the tech.

It's a great opportunity to combine your engineering expertise, technical prowess, and customer-facing skills to deliver tailored solutions that genuinely transform the clients' businesses.

What You'll Do

  • Configure the platform to meet customer requirements, including data models, workflows, business rules, financial calculations, and document templates.
  • Prepare and execute system and integration testing to ensure the delivered solution meets expectations.
  • Analyse data conversion requirements, mapping and transforming data as needed.
  • Facilitate discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex requirements into actionable solutions.
  • Create and maintain project documentation such as change requests, and project tracking reports.
  • Collaborate with development teams to spec and design new features for the platform.

You'll likely transition into this role well if you have:

  • A background in software engineering, or a coding background
  • Experience with hands on object-oriented programming (OOP) (e.g., Java, C++, JavaScript, Groovy).
  • Experience configuring large and/or complex software packages.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (SQL)
  • Hands on experience in writing business requirements, process maps, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile/Waterfall).
  • Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing experience.

If you’re looking for a role that combines technical implementation with customer impact, drop me a note: ailbhe@theonset.com.au
