Build systems that actually matter.

There aren’t many roles in Sydney where your work genuinely sits in the “this can’t fail” bucket.

This is one of them.

The story:

  • The Onset is working with a defence-grade engineering business delivering mission-critical systems where failure isn’t an option. Think real-world deployment, high-stakes environments, and tech that directly contributes to safety and operational outcomes
  • They’ve quietly picked up significant contracts over the past 12–18 months, which is now translating into headcount growth and a need for stronger technical leadership across V&V

The role:
You’ll own verification and validation across complex, system-level products. This is end-to-end ownership, from strategy through to execution and continuous improvement.

You’ll be:

  • Leading V&V across both product and project workstreams
  • Working closely with product, systems, and project engineers to shape how things get tested, not just executing someone else’s plan
  • Driving test automation and process maturity as the company scales
  • Acting as the internal authority on V&V, setting standards rather than following them

The "why":

  • Mission-critical work: the output matters, and the team lives ands breathes this
  • Real growth: new contracts landing, more complexity, more ownership
  • Multi-disciplinary environment: engineers up and down the stack form squads tailored to specific problems

This is the kind of role where you’re not just validating systems, you’re shaping how the organisation builds confidence in them.

If you’ve led V&V in complex environments and want something with more weight behind it, let's talk. Apply direct and we can set something up.
