Job Description
Founding Robotics Engineer
$150–220k + generous equity award
$150–220k + generous equity award
The thesis:
- A faster robot routine is only useful if someone can trust it enough to put it into production. That means knowing where the arm can move, what the controller will do, and which assumptions still need checking on the machine
- An early-stage industrial software startup is building a way to make those decisions easier. As AI makes robot programs quicker to write, the team is tackling the work needed to verify them before they reach a factory floor
Start with one arm. Take it into production:
- Prove the approach on the company’s own robot arm, then carry it into the first manufacturing workflow
- Build and qualify deterministic routines for industrial arms, working across controllers, motion and physical measurements
- Define what needs to be checked, instrument the machine and establish where the evidence holds
- Turn what you learn into methods the next installation can reuse, reducing the amount of engineering that starts from scratch
Your experience needs to hold up beside the machine:
- You’ve worked hands-on with robot arms 4and understand what it takes to get a routine running reliably in production
- You can read controller programs and work through the interactions between motion control, PLCs, fieldbus and the surrounding equipment
- You know where a model helps, where a measurement is needed and when there isn’t enough evidence to proceed
- You’re comfortable moving between the lab and factory floor, using AI tools while taking responsibility for the engineering
Years served matter less than what you’ve shipped. Strong university projects backed by a year or two of relevant industry experience can be enough. Deeper experience is welcome if you want to stay close to the hardware
You’ll help build the company around the work:
- Work directly with the founder as one of the first hires, with room to shape the technical approach and how the team operates
- Bring your own judgement. You’ll need to question assumptions, make decisions and move work forward with limited structure
- Help solve a problem familiar to anyone who has commissioned industrial equipment: getting an improvement approved and running without putting production at risk
The hiring process includes time with the founder and a paid practical trial, giving you both a chance to work together before committing.
