Job Description

We’re looking for a Security Engineer to join an internal program. This is a standalone role in Australia, reporting to the CISO, with plenty of visibility and the chance to really make an impact. The role has opened up because the previous engineer was promoted internally, so it’s a great opportunity for someone who loves solving problems and making things stronger, smarter, and safer every day.

In this role, you’ll take Purview, DLP, data classification, and access management from light usage to fully operational. You’ll work closely with third-party SOC and SIEM teams to make sure monitoring, detection, and response actually work for the business. You’ll also take audit findings from ISO 27001, IRAP, Essential 8, and similar programs, and turn them into real improvements, running risk assessments, architecture reviews, and security projects along the way. Part of the role is building playbooks, dashboards, and automation to make security simple and effective.

You’ll bring experience with Microsoft security tools like Defender, Sentinel, Entra, Intune, and Purview. Experience with audits, controls, and turning risk findings into action is essential, and you should be a clear communicator who can explain complex security concepts in plain language and influence across teams.

It would help, but not essential, if you’ve got hands-on scripting or automation experience with PowerShell or Python.

This is a role with real visibility and impact, giving you the chance to take a Microsoft-focused security stack and run with it. You’ll be supported, but you’ll also have the autonomy to make meaningful changes that strengthen the organisation’s security every day.
