Job Description
Head of Finance - Global Fintech
- Own the finance function with direct exposure to leadership and the Board
- Balance financial control with commercial planning, pricing, forecasting and deal-level decision support
- Build the systems and processes for the next stage of growth
Strengthen financial rigour, improve commercial visibility and build a finance function that can scale with the organisation.
About the Role
This is the senior finance role in the business and a trusted advisory position to the leadership team and Board.
You will own both sides of finance: the control and reporting discipline that keeps the group accurate and compliant, and the commercial analysis that supports decisions around investment, pricing, client engagements and growth.
The role is deliberately hands-on. Supported by a Corporate Accountant, you will oversee the full finance remit while remaining close enough to the detail to step into reconciliations, the general ledger and month-end activity when required. At the same time, you will improve reporting, strengthen systems and shape how the function develops as the business becomes more complex.
Based in Sydney, the role offers hybrid working with three days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the finance function and build the capability, controls and operating rhythm needed to support growth
- Deliver accurate, timely management and Board reporting, including clear analysis of performance against budget and forecast
- Lead group financial control across the general ledger, payments, payroll, reconciliations, cash and banking
- Own annual accounts, statutory reporting, tax obligations, R&D claims and relationships with auditors and advisers
- Build and maintain budgets, forecasts and financial models that reflect current commercial performance
- Advise on client contract structures, pricing and delivery margins across subscription and project-based revenue
- Support fundraising, investor reporting and financial due diligence activity
- Improve visibility of unit economics and provide decision-ready insight to senior leaders
- Mentor and develop the Corporate Accountant, with scope to grow the team as the business scales
- Strengthen finance systems, processes and governance across Australia, the UK and Ireland
About You
You are an experienced finance leader who is equally comfortable discussing commercial performance with a Board and working through the detail behind the numbers.
Essential experience includes:
- Deep finance leadership experience, ideally within technology, software or professional services
- Degree qualifications and CA, CPA or equivalent membership
- Senior-level exposure to a CEO, executive team or Board
- Experience in a mixed revenue business combining subscription or SaaS income with project or services delivery
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, WIP and margin analysis
- Experience managing reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- A track record of improving financial systems, controls and processes
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to turn complex information into practical commercial guidance
- A genuinely hands-on approach suited to a lean, growing finance team
Experience in financial services, wealth management or advice technology would be valuable, as would exposure to fundraising, M&A, investor due diligence, finance systems implementations or R&D tax incentive claims.
This role will suit a finance leader who wants to shape a function rather than inherit one that is already fully formed. It offers meaningful influence, broad commercial exposure and the chance to build finance capability within a global financial advice technology business.
