Job Description

With rapid client growth across AU, UK and EU markets, this business is investing in dedicated cyber and infrastructure leadership for the first time.

Cyber security is becoming increasingly central to both client engagement and the company’s future scale, and this newly created role has been designed to bring dedicated leadership and maturity to a function that is now strategically important to the next phase of growth.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll lead a small team across Information Security and Infrastructure, working closely with Engineering, Product and senior leadership to strengthen cyber maturity, operational reliability and governance practices across the business.

The foundations are already strong — ISO 27001 has been maintained successfully for several years, the team is capable and engaged, and the environment is operating well. This isn’t a turnaround role. It’s an opportunity to build on a solid platform, improve operational maturity and help shape where the function goes next.

This is very much a player/coach environment. You’ll need to be comfortable staying close to the detail — guiding architectural decisions, improving infrastructure processes, supporting release and migration planning, helping teams solve problems and contributing during incident response situations when needed.

You’ll work across:

  • cyber governance and operational security
  • infrastructure and cloud reliability
  • incident response and operational planning
  • enterprise client security engagement
  • audit and compliance activities
  • process improvement, automation and operational maturity

There is also strong exposure to enterprise financial services clients across AU, UK and EU markets, including involvement in:

  • security due diligence
  • RFP responses
  • cyber posture discussions
  • client infrastructure and shared responsibility conversations
  • board-level cyber reporting

Strong AWS experience is important, alongside familiarity with modern infrastructure practices including CI/CD, observability, logging and operational governance.

There is also an opportunity to help shape the business’ approach to AI governance and emerging frameworks such as ISO 42001 as cyber and governance maturity continues to evolve.

The CTO is looking for someone constructive, pragmatic and commercially aware — someone who can earn trust quickly, get the best out of people and operate comfortably between strategy and implementation detail.

This role would suit someone who’s looking for more ownership, more influence and the opportunity to put their own stamp on a growing function. You may be more Cyber, less infrastructure, or more Infrastructure, less Cyber - they are open to both.

This role offers the chance to genuinely shape the future direction of cyber within the business, influence leadership decisions and grow into a broader cyber leadership remit over time, with a clear pathway toward future CISO title as the company continues to scale.
