Job Description

3 month contract role as a Network Security Engineer responsible for the company’s network across multiple sites. The network uses SD-WAN, Fortigate firewalls, WatchGuard, and remote access is currently managed via Netskope, transitioning to Zscaler.

They will handle operational network tasks, while also reviewing the network across all sites, identifying issues, single points of failure, and providing recommendations. They will take ownership of resolving problems and improving the network’s stability and security.

This role is a cover while full-time staff are being hired, once they are onboarded, this contractor role can shift to a more strategic focus, helping shape the network strategy and modern SASE deployment while full-time staff manage day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate has a strong Cisco networking background and experience with firewalls, remote access solutions, and modern SASE technologies, able to combine hands-on operations with strategic insight.

Ideally, you will have:

• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on network engineering experience.

• Proven experience in network audits and remediation projects.

• Expertise in Cisco Wireless solutions, including WLCs and Access Points, and Cisco L2/L3 switches (VLANs, trunking, port channels, STP).

• Strong understanding of IPsec/SSL VPNs, SD-WAN, GRE, BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.

• Experience with professional Wi-Fi survey tools and structured cabling for copper and fiber.

• Hands-on experience with SASE platforms, Zero Trust architectures, Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler, and Netskope.
