Job Description
Senior Data & Analytics Engineer
Own the Data Backbone of an AI-Driven Tech Scaleup
Not every data engineering role gives you the chance to build the engine room.
This one does.
We’re partnering with a fast-growing Australian technology company that’s transforming a traditional industry through AI, automation, and data-driven products. With strong product-market fit, growing enterprise customers, and ambitious expansion plans, they’re now looking for a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer to take ownership of their modern data platform.
This is not a “maintain the dashboards” kind of role.
You’ll sit at the centre of a business where data powers:
The foundations are already in place - Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, AWS - but the business has reached the point where they need someone senior enough to evolve the architecture, modernise pipelines, and drive the next phase of scale.
That’s where you come in.
The Opportunity
You’ll join a small, highly collaborative Data & AI team in a genuinely high-ownership role.
You won’t inherit layers of process, large support teams, or narrowly defined responsibilities.
Instead, you’ll become the owner of the company’s “Data Hub” - the core platform powering everything from customer-facing reporting through to AI model training and real-time automation workflows.
One day you might be:
-
redesigning real-time data pipelines,
-
optimising Snowflake and ETL architecture,
-
improving governance and access controls,
-
enabling natural-language analytics experiences,
-
or building pipelines for OCR, PDF extraction, and computer vision workloads.
This role sits right at the intersection of:
-
Data Engineering
-
Analytics Engineering
-
AI Enablement
-
Product Innovation
-
Platform Ownership
Why This Role Is Different
The business is specifically looking for someone who can think strategically while remaining deeply hands-on.
You’ll have the autonomy to:
-
shape architectural direction,
-
influence platform strategy,
-
solve real business problems,
-
and build solutions yourself.
This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership and wants their work to directly influence product capability, AI innovation, and business growth.

Data Governance & Security
Strengthen access controls, governance frameworks, and platform compliance while improving scalability and operational maturity.
AI & Unstructured Data
Build and optimise pipelines for documents, PDFs, images, OCR, and computer vision workloads that directly power AI products.
What They’re Looking For
You’re likely someone who:
-
has strong end-to-end data engineering experience,
-
enjoys autonomy and ownership,
-
thrives in startup or scaleup environments,
-
and is excited by AI-enabled products and unstructured data problems.
You don’t need to be an ML Engineer - but you do need to understand how modern AI systems consume and rely on data.
Ideal Experience
-
5+ years in Data Engineering / Analytics Engineering
-
Strong Snowflake expertise
-
Advanced SQL & Python
-
Experience designing scalable data architectures
-
Exposure to real-time or event-driven pipelines
-
Experience with OCR, document processing, or computer vision pipelines is highly valued
-
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
If you’re excited by the idea of building a modern data platform at the intersection of AI, automation, analytics, and product innovation - we’d love to hear from you.
