Job Description
This is a role for an engineer who wants to tackle the hardest unsolved problems in software development - where AI systems write code, deploy software, and make decisions at machine speed.
This is not a delivery role.
There is no neatly groomed backlog waiting for you.
Why this matters
Software development is shifting fast:
Developers writing code → AI-assisted coding and agentic systems making changes at machine speed.
And almost nobody has properly solved the questions that come next.
How do you ensure AI-generated code is secure?
How do you govern what AI agents can and can’t do?
And when something goes wrong, how do you trace what actually happened - and why?
You’ll explore these problems before they become products, build prototypes that test assumptions, and generate the technical intelligence that shapes the next generation of secure software development.
It’s a founding R&D role for a builder who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys solving problems that don’t have clear answers yet.
What you’ll actually do
You won’t be picking tickets off a backlog.
You’ll be:
-
Taking on ambiguous, unsolved technical problems
-
Pushing into the whitespace - exploring areas before they’re widely understood
-
Prototyping quickly to test ideas (and killing what doesn’t work)
-
Exploring areas like agent governance, AI-generated code risk, and system traceability
-
Working directly with leadership to shape product direction
-
Acting as a technical compass for where the company goes next
It’s equal parts engineering, research, and product thinking.
Why join?
-
Direct line to leadership - your work shapes product direction, not just implementation
-
A true R&D remit - explore, prototype, and decide what’s worth building (and what isn’t)
-
Work at the frontier of AI + software development, where the problems aren’t solved yet
-
Backed, established company with real customers - you’re building for impact, not hypotheticals
-
Remote-first, with flexibility to operate how you work best
This is a chance to work at the point where AI, security, and software development collide - before it’s fully defined.
About you
You’re likely already operating at a senior/principal level and comfortable in ambiguity.
You’ve spent time in areas like:
-
AI / LLM systems or agent workflows
-
Developer tooling or platform engineering
-
Security / secure software development
-
Distributed systems, observability, or CI/CD
Technology exposure:
-
Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript, or Java
-
Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud-native platforms
-
GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, or developer platforms
-
Security tooling or vulnerability detection systems
-
AI frameworks, RAG systems, or model integration workflows
