Job Description
Not so long ago, in a startup not so far away… a new signal was detected.
In a world where robots were once locked into executing pre-scripted commands - stuck on rails, reacting instead of thinking - a shift began.
The robotics evolution is no longer coming. It's already here.
Globally, the robotics market is set to surpass $250 billion by 2030, driven by breakthroughs in AI, edge computing, and autonomy. In Australia alone, robotics is reshaping industries from agriculture and mining to space and defence, with government and VC investment tripling over the past 5 years.
But none of it matters without software.
That’s where you come in.
This rebel team has started building the software layer that enables robots to learn, adapt, and make decisions in the unknown. Their mission is to develop the brain that fuses perception, control, and autonomy - unlocking the next generation of machine intelligence.
They’ve built the hardware. Now they’re building life into it.
Picture R2-D2 jacking into the Death Star’s mainframe to shut down the trash compactor.
We’re doing that. Just with more C++ and less C-3PO.
Your Role in the Rebellion:
We’re hiring a Robotics Software Engineer to lead the charge in building modular autonomy systems for robots working in high-stakes environments - where GPS might fail, maps don’t exist, and latency is not an option.
You’ll:
-
Design and implement ROS/ROS2-based systems from the ground up.
-
Build software that enables autonomous navigation, perception, and control.
Work closely with mechanical, AI and firmware engineers to bring systems into the real world.
-
Test your work where it matters most — outside the lab, in field deployments.
What You’ll Bring:
This isn’t a "robot arm on an assembly line" kind of role. This is robots making real-time decisions in real-world chaos - navigating, reacting, collaborating.
They won't just follow commands.
They’ll lead the way.
Will you answer the call?
