The Mission

Own the hard electronics gap between prototype and product across 13 to 15 custom boards, high-speed compute, Jetson architecture, sensing, power and compliance.

The Challenge

• Designing and reviewing complex embedded PCBs across compute, sensing, power and robotics electronics
• Working with PCIe, Ethernet, Nvidia Jetson and other high-speed board-level constraints
• Taking prototype electronics toward manufacturable, testable and compliant product hardware
• Building EMC / EMI, intrinsic safety, protection and reliability thinking into design decisions early
• Reviewing schematics, layouts, BOMs and component choices before issues become field or production problems
• Creating practical verification, pre-compliance and production test plans that support real release decisions
• Working tightly with mechanical, firmware and manufacturing teams where board design, packaging and build reality collide
• This is senior IC work for someone who wants real ownership of complex hardware, not one small slice of a slower machine

The Bar

• Strong schematic and PCB design experience, ideally in Altium
• High-speed digital or compute-board experience, especially PCIe, Ethernet or similar
• Experience taking embedded electronics beyond R&D and into real products
• Practical EMC / EMI design judgement across layout, grounding, shielding, filtering and cabling
• Strong understanding of power distribution, switching regulators, mixed-signal design and protection
• Comfort reviewing others’ work and giving clear technical direction without turning it into theatre
• Manufacturing, test, compliance or certification exposure in hardware that had to survive real use
• Jetson's highly regarded. Intrinsic safety's highly regarded. Motor control's useful. Complex board ownership matters most

R&D Machinist / CNC Operator

The Mission

Bring 5-axis CNC in-house and become the person who turns small, awkward, high-tolerance robot parts into fast R&D iteration. 

The Challenge

Programming, setting and operating a 5-axis CNC for small, complex metal prototype parts.

Solving workholding, jigging, soft-jaw and fixture problems for parts that are difficult by nature:

• Making *tiny* gears, compact components, assembly aids and test fixtures that speed up hardware development
• Working with aluminium, stainless steel, brass and other prototype metals where fidelity matters
• Feeding practical DFM advice back to engineers before awkward geometry becomes a recurring problem
• Supporting module builds, gearbox work and hands-on integration where machining meets mechatronics
• Helping build the internal rapid-manufacturing capability around modern equipment and fast iteration

This isn't production machining, job-shop repetition or parts-per-day output. It's R&D machining for someone who likes solving the part before cutting it.

The Bar

• Proven ability to program, set and operate 5-axis CNC machines
• Experience making small, complex, high-tolerance components
• Strong fixture, jig, soft-jaw and workholding problem-solving ability
• Enough experience to look at a difficult part and know where the real manufacturing risk sits
• Comfort working from a clear backlog without needing step-by-step supervision
• Expert communicator: work with the engineering team to drive optimal, commercial design behaviours

Gears are highly regarded. Swiss-type CNC's a serious bonus. 

Trade qualifications are useful, but aptitude and adaptability matter more.

This role is not field service.

It’s end-to-end machine design for semiconductor capital equipment, from concept through build, commissioning, FAT, SAT and stable production.

What You’ll Work On

• Own the full machine lifecycle from requirements capture to production handover
• Lead mechanical and mechatronic design across structure, motion, metrology, controls, pneumatics, safety and cleanroom integration
• Develop and own the machine design specification
• Specify precision components including motion stages, sensors, actuators, frames, vibration isolation, enclosures, PLCs, HMIs and vision systems
• Design for sub-micron placement or overlay accuracy under real-world force, thermal load, vibration and process disturbance
• Make cleanroom-compatible decisions across materials, finishes, lubrication, outgassing, particle generation and contamination control
• Produce complete documentation across drawings, schematics, BoMs, manuals and operator instructions
• Coordinate internal fabrication, external vendors, system integration and commissioning
• Walk tools through FAT, SAT and into stable operation

• Personally led mechanical or mechatronic design of a production semicon tool or major subsystem
• Proven experience designing machines that hold sub-micron placement or overlay accuracy
• Experience dealing with force, thermal load, vibration, environmental factors or process disturbance
• Cleanroom-compatible design experience, ideally ISO Class 3 or better
• Deep understanding of particle generation, contamination control, fab integration and materials management
• Strong familiarity with SEMI standards

• Lead mechanical design for custom manufacturing equipment
• Take machine concepts through CAD, drawings, BOMs, build and production release
• Design mechanisms, structures, pneumatic systems, motion assemblies and precision subsystems

• Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA and engineering analysis where required
