Job Description

Here are some reasons why Data Engineers have been leaving their employers.


The current employer simply cannot retain or recruit people.


Too much talk about “10x’ing” versus actually doing solid work.


A CTO that has a deep desire to over engineer things.  


A decision to move to an almost impossible to recruit programming language.

Sure, that may not sound sexy at first. But think of the poise, the experience and stability the people working here experience.

What’s keeping people here? There must be a secret sauce…


Perhaps because this business is not trying to re-invent the wheel. They know who they are and what they fundamentally do. As an REIT, their core business is Land and the economic rent of it.


They use technology to enhance what they’ve been doing well for years, have a massive budget which they have been executing against with clear projects for the last 2 years.


In their sector, they are disrupting retail personalisation and shopping experiences for their customers.

As part of the Data Analytics team, you’d be at the core of this work.


Don’t worry though; you won’t be alone or known as “that data person”, as the team is well staffed with some really solid and dynamic Engineers, Analysts and Architects.


They are using all the latest data packs from GCP. Full CI/CD approach, running SQL based models through DBT. You know the drill better than me (I hope).


Technical must haves:


  • SQL
  • Python
    Cloud (any is fine)
  • Software Engineering background (7-10 years commercial experience)


They offer their staff a hybrid schedule of in office / WFH (post lockdown of course).  


Whilst there is no pending capital raise or golden rumours of an “IPO” here (they listed many, many years ago) there is a handsome bonus.


There is definitely a culture of curiosity and learning, so you can expect to pick up some new skills here and potentially some certs (such as GCP).
