A high growth data infrastructure company headquartered in Sydney is looking for a commercially aware and technically disciplined Product Owner to strengthen execution across its engineering function.

This is a backend, API and data platform environment operating in regulated markets across multiple international regions. The business works with global enterprise clients and is in a strong financial position with long term contracts and sustained growth.

This role sits at the centre of delivery and is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure, clarity and ownership to product execution in a scale-up environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will:

• Translate commercial objectives into clear, build-ready product artefacts

• Own and structure backlogs across multiple product pillars

• Run sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives and reviews

• Ensure development effort is sequenced within agreed capacity

• Improve requirement clarity to reduce rework and sprint spillover

• Partner with commercial stakeholders to shape and refine scope

• Maintain Jira hygiene and reporting standards

• Improve process and product definition practices over time

This is a hands on Product Owner role with real ownership. Engineers should be building against requirements that are complete, testable and commercially coherent.

Environment

• Backend and API-led products (no heavy frontend focus)

• Cloud based infrastructure (AWS environment)

• Onshore engineering team with offshore collaboration

• Flat structure with direct access to senior leadership

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years professional experience

• 3+ years in a Product Owner, Business Analyst or Systems Analyst capacity

• Strong Agile / Scrum experience

• Excellent user story writing and acceptance criteria discipline

• Experience working with backend engineering teams

• Exposure to APIs, integrations and data flows

• Comfortable operating in a regulated or security-conscious environment

• Strong communicator with high ownership mentality

• Confident engaging both technical and commercial stakeholders

Nice to have:

• CSPO or similar certification

• Experience in FinTech, payments, identity, SaaS or data platforms

• Exposure to privacy or compliance frameworks
