Senior Full Stack Engineer (Backend Focus - Java)

🏠 Hybrid – 50/50 split

💰Up to $170K+Super

We’re looking for a senior engineer who’s strongest on the backend but happy to dip into full stack when needed. You’ll split your time between our customer engineering team and our platform team-jumping in where you can have the most impact.

This is the hiring manager’s first role in this space, so it’s a big one. You’ll have the chance to set the tone for how we build, raise the bar on quality, and help shape the team culture as we grow.

Day-to-day, you’ll be working on a Java-based SaaS platform that powers multiple customer products. You’ll get stuck into building new features, fixing tricky performance issues, and making smart architecture decisions. If you’re interested, there’s a clear path here to Team Lead or Principal Engineer- but you can stay deep in the tech if that’s your thing.

What you’ll be doing

• Taking ownership of projects from the idea stage right through to delivery and improvement.

• Building, refactoring, and tuning systems in Java, Docker, Postgres (and sometimes React).

• Figuring out whether something’s a platform problem or a product bug - and fixing it the right way.

• Helping other engineers level up through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience with Java-based SaaS platforms and backend work.

• Solid architecture skills and the ability to spot problems before they blow up.

• A track record of shipping real, complex projects.

• Someone who naturally steps up to guide others and improve the way the team works.
