Here’s where you’ll work on greenfield, customer-facing machine learning products with visible impact on a high scale app and website. You’ll have the freedom to influence system design, choose appropriate technologies and deliver end-to-end solutions with less regulatory constraint than many industries.
Engineers operate in highly autonomous agile squads, giving you plenty of scope to shape how things are done while building your technical and leadership capabilities.
There are team member discounts across the portfolio of brands and access to wellbeing programs, including 24/7 support via the Sonder app. You’ll also get progressive and competitive leave policies and opportunities for career development within a large, diverse organisation.
And of course, you’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative working environment with flexible hybrid working arrangements.
What you’ll do
Design, develop, deploy and maintain production machine learning pipelines and data-driven services. These will directly support customer-facing digital products within a significant retail brand.
Build and maintain Python-based APIs that integrate ML outputs into web and app platforms, working closely with Data Scientists to productionise models and analytical solutions.
Contribute to system, solution and API design in the absence of dedicated solution architects, and collaborate with software engineers, product owners and business analysts in an agile squad.
Participate in sprint planning, ticket refinement, estimation and delivery across discovery, build, test and release phases, applying appropriate testing, deployment and monitoring practices to ensure reliability and performance of solutions.

Build the future of one of Australia’s most-loved online shopping experiences
Picture this: you’re part of a team where every line of code touches millions of customers- helping them browse, click, and get their favourite items delivered seamlessly. We’re on the hunt for a Senior Engineer who lives and breathes PHP, loves Laravel, and isn’t afraid to dive into React and AWS when the project calls for it.
This isn’t just another “maintain the legacy code” role. You’ll be at the heart of a major platform transformation - modernising core systems, building slick new features for customers and suppliers, and shaping how the platform scales for years to come. Your ideas won’t sit in a backlog- they’ll be powering the next generation of online shopping experiences.
Why this role rocks:
-
Hands-on PHP/Laravel mastery: Rebuild, refactor, and modernise one of the country’s most recognisable e-commerce engines.
-
Full-stack playground: Jump between backend logic, React-powered frontends, and cloud-based integrations.
-
Modernisation in motion: Lead the migration from a legacy monolith to a flexible, service-based architecture.
-
Product partnership: Work alongside designers, product managers, and QA to turn ideas into tangible features.
-
Culture that clicks: Join a low-ego, highly skilled team that values learning, craftsmanship, and collaboration.
-
Flexibility & perks: Hybrid work, catered lunches, wellness programs, and a genuine focus on people.
Who you are:
-
A PHP/Laravel pro with strong JavaScript/React chops.
-
Pragmatic and outcome-drivenn: you get why you’re building something, not just how.
-
Ownership-minded: you ship features, mentor peers, and drive solutions end-to-end.
-
Collaborative and clear: you can explain technical ideas to non-tech teammates without rolling your eyes.
-
Curious and adaptable: always exploring better ways to build, integrate, and scale.
Bonus points if you’ve played with APIs, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, or high-traffic e-commerce systems.
The tech you’ll be playing with:
-
Backend: PHP, Laravel, MySQL, REST APIs
-
Frontend: React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
-
Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines
-
Tooling: Jira, GitHub, Vercel
If you’re ready to leave your mark on one of Australia’s favourite online brands and thrive in a collaborative, modern engineering culture, this is your moment. Let’s build something customers love.
